FAQs

I pursued a career in mental health after the painful loss of my sister and watching mental health struggles continue to impact close friends and family around me. I also realized after my first career in business that I wanted a deeper connection with people. The stigma and lack of understanding related to mental health in marginalized and oppressed communities is a major motivator behind my role as a therapist. I have worked in school settings, hospitals, outpatient settings, and inpatient settings. I am a certified sex offender treatment provider and received advanced training in family systems trauma therapy. Receiving these advanced training opportunities allows me to provide individualized treatment interventions to clients.

What was your path to becoming a therapist?

How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?

What should someone know about working with you?

The intake process includes completing assessments that relate to needs and urgent concerns while providing me with a better understanding of the profile of the client. Progress is based on how the client interprets and implements therapeutic tools, their enhanced control of emotional regulation, and their level of motivation in sessions.

What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?

I thoroughly enjoy expanding my knowledge base to meet my clients’ needs. I am very interested in learning more about the umbrella of sexuality, substance abuse, and postpartum depression for new mothers. Collaboration with other providers allows my clients to have a one-stop-shop for all their mental health needs while ultimately lowering the stigma behind mental health treatment.

How do you manage your self-care?

What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?

The biggest core values that I maintain as a therapist are open-mindedness, genuineness, flexibility, respect, and reliability. These values have assisted me in accomplishing several goals in my life as well as overcoming adversity. My upbringing is connected to these values because the role models I looked up to exuded these qualities and demonstrated that anything is possible. Cultural sensitivity shows up in my practice by ensuring that I understand my client, approaching them with self-awareness, open-mindedness, and unconditional positive regard.

I am super excited to expand my client base and reach a larger population. When times are hard, people need mental health support. It fills me with reassurance to know that I am a navigation tool for my clients.

I speak to myself in kind words and in moments of stress, I create a commitment to exploring new hobbies or learning new skills outside of work. I enjoy visiting new restaurants, coffee shops, and new spaces.
